I LOVE Thanksgiving. Other than Christmas it’s my favorite holiday of the year. It’s a great time to eat good food, spend time with family, and really be grateful for all the things, big and small, that God has blessed you with. This year my husband and I are taking our 5 year old and 2 year old on an eight hour road trip to Maryland. Continue Reading
I really hate to write about sickness again but when it is in my face all day I can’t seem to come up with a better topic. This time I’ve been playing doctor to my sick husband. He came down with strep last week and the infection developed into an abscess on his tonsil. Um, yuck. I got to hold his hand at the doctor this evening while he got it punctured and drained. Really yuck. Now we have to wait until tomorrow to see if the procedure did the trick or if he will have to have a tonsillectomy. Continue Reading
Is your house packed full of different personality types? Mine is. Growing up I always envisioned having sweet little kids all with calm and gentle personalities like my own. I pictured us all liking the same things, acting the same way, and living a low-key, quiet kind of life. WRONG! I was instantly pulled into reality starting the minute my first child was born. Not only did she refuse to turn head down in my belly resulting in a C-section for me, but the very first thing she did when she entered this world was poop all over the poor doctor. This probably should have been my first clue that my sweet, beautiful, non-cooperative baby was not going to be exactly like me. Continue Reading
Christmas trees are up in the department stores and the holiday music has started playing. Is it that time of year already? I feel like as my kids get older, the year gets shorter! This year my 5-year old is being VERY particular about what she wants.
We have been getting all the fun Christmas catalogs in the mail and I let her look through them and circle the things that she wants to put on her Christmas list this year. So far out of about 5 magazines she has circled absolutely anything and everything to do with horses, and an Ipod.
Is it possible to manage a home, raise young kids, work full-time (for some) and still have anytime left for you?? I’m trying to find a way to do just that. I only work a few hours a week outside the home, I have a daughter in Kindergarten, a 2-year old at home with me, and a big house that never ever seems entirely clean. I know I’m not the only one in this boat. Continue Reading
It’s that time of year again. Sniffles, coughs, runny noses, fevers, and CRANKY kids. As much as I love the changing of the seasons, I despise the allergies and sicknesses that go with it. According to Kids Health colds are the number one reason that kids stay home from school. And don’t you just love those parents who bring their sick kids out to cough all over your kids?
