Christmas is 10 days away. As a Christian mom, I am always looking for ways to instill godly values in my kids. Christmas is one of those times when on one hand the story of Jesus’ birth is everywhere, on the other hand we are often so busy we don’t take the time to actively teach the true meaning of Christmas. I have put together a 10 Day Countdown to Christmas. Each day will give you something you to do to teach your children about Christmas. These activities don’t necessarily build on each other so if you aren’t able to do them all it is ok, do what you can and what works for your family.
Day 10
To start our countdown we have 4 coloring pages. Use this activity to find out what your child(ren) already know about the Christmas story. Click on this link to take you to the coloring pages http://www.coloring-page.net/bible.html print pages 5, 13, 20 and 29. First give your child the shepherd page. Ask them to tell you why the shepherd is imortant in the Christmas story. I love to write down these responses or record them because, depending on the age of your child, their answers are sometimes comical and are fun to share with them as they grow older. Then color the shepherd. Next follow the same process with the angel, then the Nativity scene and finally the three kings.
Day 9
Read aloud Luke 2 from a children’s story Bible. If you don’t have access to one you can read it online here
http://www.essex1.com/people/paul/chris02.html As you are reading the story have your child refer to the pictures he colored yesterday to help reinforce the story.
Check back on Tuesday for the next 2 days of activities. Please leave me a comment and let me know how you liked the activites. I hope you are blessed as you shepherd your child’s heart.
