Everyone with preteens and teens seemed to have enjoyed the premier of the Disney original movie High School Musical 2 over the weekend. Though the timing was odd, the movie was about summer vacation yet came out when most kids are ending their’s, it still was a hit.
I’ll admit it, I watched. I wish I could blame my kids, but the truth is I wanted to watch it. I watched the first one one night when it was a rerun and I was bored. And supprisingly I liked it. The singing was fairly good, the kids were actually dressed rather than the nearly naked fashions I usually see, and I’m not that far removed from high school not to remember the huge social pressure. It really did feel as if the entire school would come crashing down upon you if you tried something new. Sure the ending was cheesy, but it is Disney.
So Saturday evening I curled up and watched the sequel. Not as good, but they never are. Still fun singing, still fun clothes (no bikinis at the pool!), though the story line was a bit harder to get. Trouble at the summer job I get, beautiful rish heiress at the fabulous golf resort not so much. Still it was fun and cute, and at least I didn’t have to go to the movie theater to see it.
