friends
Welcome back to the Carnival of SAHMs. This is always a fun carnival with lots of great tips, advice, and stories for moms staying home with their kids or working from home. It is a tough job, but someone has to do it. Might as well be us. :)

Are you starting to feel overwhelmed as a stay at home mom? Valerie Watne shares some Encouragement For You and Me posted at Maureen O’Brien, saying, “Be encouraged! This is a hard thing to do when we feel overwhelmed by the trials of the day… but we all need it… so, read and be encouraged.”

Just because you’re the mom does not mean you ahve to devote yourself completely to your family. Take some time for yourself to be a better mom. Start with this simple advice from Chris Durst. Teach Yourself to Say NO! posted at Rat Race Rebellion, saying, “With our time-starved lifestyles, one of the most important words we can learn to use more often is NO.”

piggy bank and moneyMillionaire Mommy Next Door presents How to Make Money Management a Family Affair posted at Millionaire Mommy Next Door, saying, “Our children learn from our example. If we behave as though money management is painful, secretive, or confusing, we thwart our children’s financial future. Is this what we want for our children? Of course not. We all want our children to acquire the tools necessary to power their own future financial independence and freedom. How can parents raise financially-savvy children ? Here are some suggestions.”

Motherhood, filled with countless little adventures. Not all of them worth adding to the scrapbook, but an adventure all the same. Stretch Mark Mama shares some classic photos not quite scrapbook worthy in Whitey Tighty Patrol posted at Stretch Mark Mama.

If it’s not one thing, it’s poop. Jenny Rapson tells a hilarious story on motherhood in The Turd that Broke the Camel?s Back posted at Mommin’ It Up!.

And let’s not forget when our parenting strategies don’t pan out the way we expect. Stephanie shares one such moment in He Wanted Me to Throw Away His Toys posted at Adventures in the 100 Acre Wood.

Of course not all stories are so funny. Some involve a lot of hard work and time, but are worth it. pickel shares one such experience in My Two Boys: How to Choose a Pediatrician posted at My Two Boys.

For stay at home moms who have children heading out of the nest you may be thinking your parenting days are coming to a close. But there are still important things a mother can do for her children. Scott H presents 18 Overlooked Things Everyone Should Bring to College posted at College and Finance, saying, “Mothers with children going off to college would do well to read this and make sure their children are prepared.”

baby birdsAnother important thing a mother can stil do for her kids? Feed them. TherapyDoc shares her story in Feeding Them posted at Everyone Needs Therapy, saying, “They’re never too old, but you might be.”

Of course, don’t get too caught up in the future. Make sure you take time to play with your kids now before they’re too grown up. Melitsa presents More time for play posted at Play-Activities.com.

Not sure how many more times you can play Candyland before your head explores. Never fear! Annette Berlin presents the Ultimate Summer Resource Page posted at Homeschooling Journey, saying, “Summer may be more than half over, but there is still plenty of time left for fun. You and the kids can still enjoy inexpensive summer trips, online books, frugal art projects and lots more.”

Want something fun to do that is also educational, and free? Megan Bayliss helps you out by telling us about a great contest. Enter to WIN a set of Five Aussie Animal Finger Puppets posted at Imaginif…, saying, “Here’s an easy competition to enter. Leave a comment to go into the draw to win a set of five gorgeous Australian Animal finger puppets. Keep your kids amazed and educated while you use the finger puppets to tell them all out the Outback, Down Under (Prize includes International Postage).”
