I didn’t get to write a Monday Mommy Tip last week because of the huge give away going on, so I’m making up for it this week by putting up two tips. I hope these will be helpful to everyone.
The first is from the ‘I’m bored!” files. We really like painting around here, especially with watercolors. But sometimes we want the *pop* that tempera paints can give. To add a little more fun to plain tempera paints here are some fun additions you can use with 1 pint of paint.
- 2 tablespoons of corn syrup will make it slimy
- 1 tablespoon of flour makes it lumpy
- 1 tablespoon of sand or sawdust makes it rough and gritty
- 1/2 cup of sugar makes it shiny
- 1/2 cup of salt makesit sparkle
My second mommy tip is another fun idea for when the “Moooooom, I’m bored!” whinig begins. Fill empty spray bottles with water and food coloring. Then send the kids outside with new, white shirts and the bottles of color. Not only will they ahve a blast soaking eaching other but they’ll have funky new shirts to wear afterwards.
Or, you could read this great post on boredom and kids. It’s full of great advice on why children get bored and what parents can do to help.
