Dog Days of Summer Giveaway!

Posted by Summer M

July 23, 2007 |

Are you enjoying seeing all the wonderful giveaways going on so far during the Dog Days of Summer Bloggy Giveaway? With so many blogs giving away so much it’s hard not to get excited. Just don’t too excited and forget to enter as many contests as you can. They will be going on all week and all the winners will be announced this Friday.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket I had a bit of a hard time trying to decide what to give away. I figured shipping would be too high to mail off my kids, though I would get the chance to meet the winner in person when they showed up on my doorstep at 3 in the morning to return the prize that does not sleep. Unless you enjoy staying up all night, in which case let me know and we can work something out.

Then I thought about giving away a book, but I couldn’t decide what. I even dug through the closet and pulled out a box with 9 old party favors from my first son’s baby shower. Tiny porcelain dolls with small candles. (Hey, those could be the booby prize.) After too much thinking I decided to sit back and do some scrapbooking to relax. Then I had it! My scrapbook junkie ways have given me a huge case of stuff. So why not clear some room by giving it away!

So here’s the giveaway. Leave me comments on why you scrapbook, or why you’d love to start. On Friday I’ll choose a winner at random and pack that person up a suprise assortment of scrappy goodness. Paper, stickers, who knows what. Trust me, I have more than enough scrapbook supplies to stock the free world. So tell me about why you scrapbook, then come back on Friday and see if you’re the winner. And hey, if you want the booby prize just add that to your comment too.

    Love your blog.

I’ve been scrapbooking for about 10 years or so. I vacillate back and forth between wanting to be fru fru in my pages and trying to be more concerned with journaling and leaving a legacy. I’d love some new doo dads.

  2. Multitasking Mama on July 23, 2007 10:36 am

Wahoo! I would love to win the scrapbooking supplies! I’ve been scrapbooking for almost 4 years — I started when my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease because the thought of losing all of my precious memories was just terrifying. I truly think that everyone should do “scrapbooking” in some form, whether it’s blogging or journal-keeping, or just writing notes next to photos in a regular album. :-)

  3. Laura W on July 23, 2007 10:44 am

I am brand new to scrapbooking… just started this past year. So far I have made cards for several occasions and a few pages. It is such a fun way to capture memories!

I am collecting my materials to start scrapbooking…great prize!

  5. Sarakastic on July 23, 2007 10:54 am

I scrapbook because I’m still single & it’s therapeutic to cut up all of my old ex boyfriends pictures lol. Very funny post thanks for the laugh

  6. Boomeyers on July 23, 2007 10:58 am

I scrapbook to leave a legacy for my kids! I was the third child in my family and pictures of me are few and far between. So I kind of go the reverse! My poor kids! They have learned to grit their teeth and “pose” for their scrapbooking mom! :) I have “life” books for each of them and “school” books for each of them. And we have a “family vacation” album. I wish I could spend more time on it! Sorry this post is so long…. a passion! :) Thanks for the chance to win!

  7. Jaime on July 23, 2007 10:59 am

I’ve been scrapbooking for…. almost 7 years now. I started with my wedding (and sometimes itch to redo it!), and have been trying to keep up with family albums now. I’m up to the birth of my 2nd child. Too bad he was born in 2005! (but I have just finished his baby book!)

  8. Maddielynn on July 23, 2007 11:05 am

I started scrapbooking last October when we went to a dude ranch. My scrapbook cover looks like it is made out of lots of fabric scraps sewn together and I LOVE putting stuff in it! Please pick me!

I’;ve been scrapping about a year, and I love all the supplies and fun “pretties” that go along with it. I’m a late bloomer–just started in my late forties so I have a lot to catch up on. (I have to scrap pictures of eleven kids, numerous pets, and the evolution of my garden!)

Now I’ve started rubber stamping and cardmaking. So much fun to cram into so little time!

I’d love to win your giveaway. Thanks for playing!

  10. Tammy on July 23, 2007 11:26 am

I love to scrapbook. It’s a great creative hobby for me and when I finish I get to see the awesome look on my kids faces as they look through the albums!!

My daughter recently started scrapbooking and would love this and me for giving it to her. Count me in.

I’m not kidding when I say I’m pulling out my scrapbooking things for my kids to use for the first time today! This is great timing :)

  13. Melinda on July 23, 2007 11:47 am

I’m also brand new to scrapbooking. I just do it for fun. I made one for my husband, and I’m making one for me, right now. It’s relaxing.

I have a small cache of scrapbooking supplies, and a backlog of photos. I have 3 boys, and not enough time. But as the boys get older, I find I an able to get back to it. A few new stickers always gets me excited, so I would love to win!

  20. Striving\Tessa on July 23, 2007 1:05 pm

I am just starting to scrapbook. My sister is the scrapbook junkie in my home. But getting supplies to start is the trick. I am entering all the contests for scrapbook stuff. Cool. Thanks.

  21. carrie on July 23, 2007 1:21 pm

I have to say I don’t scrapbook in the traditional sense. I usually buy supplies to make my own cards–does that still count? =)

  22. Debi on July 23, 2007 1:31 pm

O.K., the more acceptable answer would probably be that I do it for my kids, to be sure to pass on all the wonderful stories of their childhoods and whatnot. And there really is a lot of truth in that. But, to be perfectly honest, I do it for me. Because it’s fun. It’s my escape from the perpetual craziness. It’s relaxing. It’s “mine”.

  23. Amber on July 23, 2007 1:42 pm

I love to scrapbook because it gives me some free time from my 4 and 1 year old. Plus, when they are older they will get to enjoy every book that I have made for them! Great giveaway!

  24. LisaCate on July 23, 2007 2:02 pm

I love scrapbooking. I like it because it’s relaxing to me and it gives me a sense of accomplishment. Plus looking at the pages with my kids makes me proud and I know that someday they’ll have a piece of me that lasts forever.

  25. Nicole on July 23, 2007 2:15 pm

I don’t really scrapbook (I sometimes decorate photo albums a bit, but I don’t like to add too much because I want people to focus on the photos), but I do like using scrapbook supplies to make cards and little gift books because it’s fun and a bit more personal than buying a mass-produced card.

Wow, was that ever a run-on sentence!

  26. Deborah on July 23, 2007 2:25 pm

I scrapbook because I want my children to have something that shows how much I loved them. My own relationship with my mother is very strained. She had a high powered job and was rarely there. Any pictures of us as kids are brown and faded and stashed in a box in a leaky shed, which gives some insight into how she feels about her kids. I want my children to be able to look back on happy memories and feel loved that I took the time to preserve those memories - both happy and sad - and in the meantime it’s a great hobby that I can share with them now as well, even if they just make collages with my scraps, it’s another memory in the making! ;-)

  27. Niki on July 23, 2007 2:26 pm

I am an avid scrapper, it is a worthwhile craft, I wish my great grandmother had been a scrapper! Hopefully one day my great grandchildren will love them.
    blessings,

  29. Amy on July 23, 2007 3:02 pm

I love to scrapbook because it is so relaxing and it gets my pictures all together in one place. Plus they are so much fun to look at after they are finished (well, are they ever really finished ;) ). Please enter me in your contest. Thanks, Amy

  30. Karen@Candiddiversions on July 23, 2007 3:15 pm

    Great give away!

I scrapbook because it allows me to play with paper, words, and pictures, not to mention paste. ;) I’m not great at it but that’s not really the point, is it?

  31. Alexia on July 23, 2007 3:52 pm

I just started scrapbooking when my son was born a year ago. I want them to each have a book full of memories!

  32. ABC on July 23, 2007 3:56 pm

I’ve been scrapbooking for just a few years, but I love it. We live in France for my husband job and are now moving to Italy. It’s a great way to show our children where we’ve lived, and our family loves to look at the scrap books when we visit home and see what we’ve been doing.

  33. Julie on July 23, 2007 3:58 pm

I haven’t scrapbooked in 5 years….I got as far as the day that we brought our daughter home from the hospital, and now we have an 8th month old son too. I’d like to get back into it, but don’t have the money for the start up costs. I’d really like to win this!!

I’ve done one scrapbook for one son’s graduation but need to redo all my photo albums plus put photos stored in show boxes into albums. Plus I use scrapbooking techniques for cards and bookmarks. So I could use supplies! :-)

  35. Sheri on July 23, 2007 4:18 pm

I scrapbook to leave a legacy.

  36. jwenger47 on July 23, 2007 4:36 pm

I love scrapbooking. By the looks of my supplies you would think I sell the stuff. Nope! Just love to scrapbook. My first big project was a 50th anniversary album for my parents. What a great thing to do. I had so much fun going thru all those old photos. I’m now working on albums for each of my 3 children, birth to high school graduation. Shed some tears here. :-) Please add me to the give away. Sounds like a lot of fun.

  37. wendy on July 23, 2007 4:43 pm

I just got back into my scrapbooking when I moved 600 miles away from my family and friends and the job that I loved. I needed a creative outlet and I have an adorable subject to fill my pages with, my 3 year old son Jaykeb. I want to be able to leave these books for him to look back on when he is an adult and see how much he was and is adored. I’d love some new scrap supplies to help me create our memories!

  38. Sarah on July 23, 2007 4:59 pm

I have been scrap booking for five years. I love being able to look back at my memories.

Well *I* don’t scrapbook (I WANT to, but have never found the time), but my daughter does, and this would make a perfect 16th birthday present for her. :)

I love your humor by the way. :) You could send a couple kids this way — it would probably take a few days before I realized I had some extras. ;)

  42. rachelle on July 23, 2007 5:52 pm

I have been a scrapper for about 5 years (maybe longer but I can’t remember back any further).. Really I just love being crafty and recording my kids memories. Also though, I love to collect scrappy-stuff. So I would love to WIN. Thank you. Oh yeah, booby prize could be fun too!

  48. Awesome Mom on July 23, 2007 7:15 pm

  49. Amy on July 23, 2007 7:20 pm

I have been scrapbooking ever since I met my husband. I knew he was the one and wanted to make certain all of our memories were kept nice.

  50. Haley on July 23, 2007 7:23 pm

    Great contest!

    Haley

  51. Beth on July 23, 2007 7:25 pm

I love to scrapbook for many reasons. I have always loved stickers and it allows me to continue to collect them and not look silly!! And I enjoy the creative aspect of it and I like knowing my kids will be able to look back and see memories of growing up and what we all thought at the time. I also love the time talking with others while scrapbooking. It is a great way to fellowship.

  52. Char on July 23, 2007 7:46 pm

I recently started scrapbooking this weekend as a matter of fact, and found that I love it and can’t wait to get more supplies to finish what I’ve started - our Colorado vacation from 3 years ago. This would be a perfect way to keep going with what I’ve started.

  53. Amanda on July 23, 2007 7:54 pm

What a great giveaway! My favorite thus far :)

Why do I scrapbook?… for my children. I waited later in life to start a family. I want them to know what it was like for them before they were old enough to remember those times. I just think it’s the best gift you can give your grown child. And it’s so fun to take pictures and then creatively make them into a scrapbook page.

You are too generous to give away some of your supplies! Thank you.
    I hope I win :):):)

    Blessings,
    Amanda

  54. margalit on July 23, 2007 7:55 pm

My daughter (14) is our family scrapper. We started to help her with spelling and punctuation, but she’s got such a talent for it.

    Love it. Pick me!

  55. Kyleen on July 23, 2007 8:29 pm

I scrapbook to relax and spend quality time with my daughter and two nieces. We are always looking for something new. Count me in too! Thanks!

  56. Dawn on July 23, 2007 9:14 pm

A great prize!! I scrapbook fairly simply (although once in a while I get more adventurous) because I want to preserve our family’s stories, both for my kids and for myself.

  57. Grace on July 23, 2007 9:19 pm

I like scrapping, but I love to make cards even more–that’s what I would use the supplies for! You can actually see some of the cards I have made on my blog–that’s what I’m giving away!! :) Thanks for including me in the giveaway!

  58. Lauren on July 23, 2007 9:23 pm

I’m on page 9 of my daughter’s scrapbook, and just beginning my scrapbook obsession. I have such a hard time choosing which photos to use, I get stuck. And then I get overwhelmed when I see all the nifty tools that I don’t have and can’t afford. I do have a pretty good start to my tool kit (12″ paper cutter with straight and deckle edge, corner rouder, and circle cutter) and I have so much fun pulling out ribbons or brads to polish of a page.

  59. Kyra on July 23, 2007 9:35 pm

I started scrapbooking after the birth of my son. I love it, just wish I had a little more time to enjoy it! Please count me in!

  65. Adrienne on July 23, 2007 10:16 pm

I started collecting scrapbooking stuff a couple of years ago but only really got to start using them after my daughter was born last year. I love to scrap about her and I am trying to back track my relationship with my husband before too much time goes by. But I love the fun things…still learning to use some of them but it is still fun to try.

  69. Kelly on July 23, 2007 10:59 pm

What a great giveaway! I am extremely deliberate about leaving a legacy for my children. My mother passed away when I was only 25 and I now know how little I knew about her and her life. I scrapbook so my children will know me. So they will know how deeply I loved them and how they impacted my life. I also scrapbook that they may know Christ and the countless ways he has blessed our family.

    Blessings~

So I realized that I could have crappy scrapbooks or really great photo albums so I chose the latter. I have pretty back grounds and lots of pictures and stories. That is why I Like it because it “simply” tells my kids about our past.

I got started scrapbooking so that I could record the story of my children’s lives…both the big and the small moments.

  98. jodene on July 24, 2007 9:56 pm

I love to scrapbook. There is nothing better to know your creating a keepsake. Thanks for the chance!!

  99. Amanda on July 24, 2007 10:08 pm

I’m pretty new to scrapbooking. For me, it’s a way to relive memories and be creative.

  100. Kim on July 24, 2007 11:31 pm

I have been scrapping for about 10 years, off and on, ofcourse as the mood strikes. It all started when I met my husband, and we have these great memory albums, complete with ticket stubs, letters, calling cards, and pictures. I plan on continueing the scrapbooks, so that I can pass them onto my children when they get older. I would love to inherit your extras to give motivation back to my scrapbookin’ habits!

I have a 4 month old baby girl and a 3 year old little boy and I am trying so hard to scrapbook a few things for them…for me, I think my scrapbooks will always let them see how much I love them.

I took my nephew to Disneyworld when he was 5. He was diagnosed with Autism shortly afterwards. He still remembers the fun he had on the trip and he was so relaxed then. I have bought some stuff to scrapbook our trip and have the pics in order but I’m working up the courage to start it. It’s scary but I’m going to do it…for him and me.

  105. Chappyswife on July 25, 2007 2:48 pm

I LOVE to scrapbook, mainly because I don’t want to forget a moment of my children’s lives, and to showcase all of our family’s pictures.

  106. Sara on July 25, 2007 5:32 pm

I scrap so that my kids will have memories to look through instead of just boxes of photos… really that’s the reason.. for my kids.

  107. Julie on July 25, 2007 10:04 pm

I scrapbook as a creative outlet and as a way to pass on memories to my kids and other family members.

  108. Heather on July 25, 2007 10:49 pm

Scrapping combines my love of art and creation with my addiction to paper and ephemera and my need to record all of our memories. I am drawn to it for those reasons.

  109. Becky Kwan on July 26, 2007 3:10 am

Thanks for the chance to win this prize! I enjoy papercrafting - mainly by making cards, but I’d be challenged to start scrapbooking - I feel like I’m too far behind!

  110. amy on July 26, 2007 8:37 am

I am a slow scrapbooker, but I love it! It takes me about an hour to do each page - I have to get very detailed! I love looking at my books and sharing them with friends and family.

  111. Elaine R on July 26, 2007 9:02 am

I scrapbook to remember… The good , the bad, and sometimes the ugly.
But mostly so my kids won’t forget what was important at least to me.

    Elaine

  112. Lisa on July 26, 2007 9:46 am

  113. Linda SS on July 26, 2007 10:07 am

I love making cards and am just now learning to scrapbook. I want to capture all of the wonderful memories that I’m sharing with my little grandchildren because I have had cancer for the past 4 years & want to make sure they remember me:)

I love to scrapbook - have been doing it for about 6 years. I’ve become the family historian and have done a heritage album with pictures back to 1903! This is my relaxing time, having gotten me through some hard times - the friendships with people I scrap with are priceless! Thanks for the generous offer!

  117. Dana on July 26, 2007 2:05 pm

I like the idea of scrapbooking but I do more stockpiling of supplies than I do actual page producing. Maybe more “stuff” will inspire me. :-)

  119. Dana on July 26, 2007 3:35 pm

Well, I am sort of new at scrapbooking but I want to get into it to preserve my families memories. In fact, that is why I started this blog also….to document really cool pictures and stuff my son does.

    Please enter me.

    Thanks

I scrapbook because it’s an activity I can do with my mom. I’m really close with her, but we don’t have many of the same interests. When I visit, scrapbooking is something we can enjoy together. My little sister does it too!
