Let’s be honest here

Moving away from the depressing toic of yesterday, today I’m focusing on honesty. Why? Well it has nothing to do with the $25 giftcard up for grabs at Welcome to Ordinary Days. Honestly, it doesn’t.

OK OK. So you got me. I’m a sucker for a contest, especially one with a great prize. The challenge is to air your dirty laundry with the blogging world. Share your dirtiest secret in a post then run back and share the link to it in her comments. One random winner will get the gift card. Sounds like fun? Great, so here is my mommy secret. *takes deep breath*

I go shopping with the kids on days when I know there will be free samples to keep them happy. That’s right, I abuse the free samples lady at our local grocery and use food to bribe my sons into complience so I can shop just once. At the time it seems so logical. A cup full of the new cereal and a cookie or two and I can get most of the groceries for that week with hardly a fuss out of them. Then I get home and feel guilty that I’m setting them up for a future eating disorder. Or maybe a life of crime. They’ll be caught going through the store picking up food, eating half of it, and sticking it back on the shelves. I can read the headlines now: Grocery Store Thieves Blame Mother for Teaching Them to Eat Without Paying. The shame, the shame I tell you. But it keeps them distracted enough I get right past the candy section without them even noticing. I’m sneaky that way.

So go on, share your own secret on your blog and join the fun. Be sure to go back to Welcome to Ordinary Days to add your post’s link in her comments.

Thanks for entering the contest! You evil, evil mother! Taking advantage of those poor little old ladies serving samples! I would never ever ever do that! Unless, of ocurse, the kids are whiney and I really need to peruse the clearance aisle one more time. :)

Are you sure this isn’t a Works-for-me-Wednesday tip?!!! Sounds like smart parenting to me.
