Try it this weekend!

Yesterday I was chatting online with some other parents. One parent also runs a daycare center and was talking about the little things she does with so many children under her care. One thing she mentioned was that every weekend she sends home an activity for the parents to do with thier children that relates to what theme they had that week in her center. She said that the parents seemed to enjoy having an activity to do with their kids one on one and were able to more connect with what their children did all week.

Talking to her gave me a fun idea for a meme. I thought it could be fun to post something every Friday that parents can do with their kids over the weekend. An art project, game, recipe, or something else. I am sure we all have a few thousand ideas that we would love to share. So if you would like to join me write a post sharing your idea then add yourself to the Mr. Linky below. Or you can do my idea and share your psot about it on your blog. I will be doing this every Friday. So to start this off here’s my fun idea and a quick recipe to make it happen.

girl blowing bubblesMy Try it this weekend idea is to take the kids outside and blow bubbles. Seems simple enough, doesn’t it? But to a child that can be an incredibly magical time. Ask yourself when the last time you went outside to just lie in the grass and blow bubbles. Well that’s too long! Load up your kids and get out there now. If you don’t have any bubble mix right now here’s a quick and easy recipe to make your own. You can use funnels, slotted spoons, papper cups, cookie cutters, or any other unbreakable items for the blowers.

  • 1 cup liquid dishwashing soap, I prefer Joy for this
  • 2 cups warm water
  • 3-4 table spoons glycerine (found at most drugstores)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • large plastic bowl

Gently stir all the ingredients together in the bowl until completely mixed.
