No, I’m not speaking of beds that sing, although I’m imagining now beds with built-in lullabies to lull your babes to sleep at night. Not a bad idea. What I’m talking about though is similar to the game musical chairs but instead of giggling children being the participants you have sleepwalking, bed-wetting kids and cranky parents. Doesn’t that sound like fun!
If you have children especially toddlers you know exactly what I’m talking about. This mom sure does! You start the night with everyone in their own beds but then someone has an accident or a bad dream and the kid ends up in bed with mom and dad. Mom gets sick of being kicked in the face with chubby toddler feet and moves to the guest bed. Ahhhh peace at last but no, child number two realized that sister is no longer in the room anymore, finds mommy and crawls in with her. Again more feet in the face (how is it that a 2 year old can take up an entire queen sized bed??) and mommy ends up in the little twin sized butterfly bed. By morning no one is in the bed they started in and another game of musical beds has been completed.
I have to admit my kids are getting a bit older and this phenomenon doesn’t occur much anymore but for some of you I know it is probably just beginning. Know this, it won’t last forever. One of these days you will miss those chubby toddler feet in your face.
Here is an article about pros and cons of co-sleeping with your children. Sweet dreams!
