Hi everyone! Sorry it has been an eternity since I have posted. I have had some major computer malfunctions and also some added chaos in my household. My girls have been begging for a pet and we broke down and got a puppy last weekend.
I have to admit, I have never trained a puppy before and I have no idea what I am doing so I am very lucky that we picked such a smart dog. In just a couple days he is almost completely housebroken and has learned how to sit and he is only 8 weeks old! He is a perfect fit for our family.
A little over a year ago we got an adult lab mix from an animal shelter who was also a very sweet gentle dog. The problem with her was that she was a heavy shedder (I had to vacuum my sofa every day to keep it clean), she needed TONS of attention and exercise, and she was a little skitzy around people. We ended up giving her to a friend who lived on a farm. Since then I have been researching what kind of dog would fit in well with our family and lifestyle and I narrowed it down to a Goldendoodle. He is part Golden Retriever and part Poodle. He ended up with a Golden personality and the smarts and non-shedding traits of a poodle. Apparently poodles are one of the smartest breeds in the world. We couldn’t ask for a better pup.
Don’t get me wrong, puppies are hard work. I was up with him twice last night letting him out to go potty and he chews EVERYTHING but his sweet and lazy personality makes it worth it. He is as black as night and we named him Moses.
If you have any good puppy training tips let me know!

Just don’t lock him in the bathroom when you leave. My brother did this a couple weeks ago with his new puppy–who got bored and chewed through the supply line on the toilet. Several hours later, Ian returns from work to find half his house flooded!
Oh no! Thanks for the tip!
