Like I said in my last post, it has been raining for days and days and days here. Today is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day so the kids are home from school. We are all getting cabin fever and it’s not even 11 am. It’s time to turn off the t.v. and do something fun!I don’t really want to go out and spend a lot of money so I have come up with a short list of fun things to do at home on a rainy day.
- Since we are only a couple weeks into January it’s not too late to send out those Christmas thank you cards. Let the kids be creative. Get out the markers, glitter, glue, and anything else “crafty” lying around the house have them hand-make their own cards. The recipients will love them!
- If you are like me, you’ve got stacks of old puzzles for the kids stored somewhere. Dig them out and have jigsaw puzzle marathon! To make things even harder, dump the pieces to ALL the puzzles in one pile and spread the puzzle boards out and get started!
- Baking is always a great rainy day activity. Try Kid’s Stuff or Zoom for some new and fun recipes.
- One of my favorites, take a NAP! Rainy days are the perfect times for catching up on some sleep.
- Lastly, try not to just set the kids in front the the t.v. the whole day. If you need something to keep them occupied without you for awhile try some educational website games. My 5 year old loves the activities on PBS kids, Playhouse Disney, and we found a new one today called EEK.
I hope you have a fun with your kids today!
