New Year’s Resolutions

resolutions.jpgMy husband and I just got back from 4 days in Cancun without the kiddos.  Talk about refreshing!  As much as I missed the kids it was a much needed and appreciated trip.  Now we are back and I am ready to hit 2007 head-on.As we traveled home I thought about the new year and what it might have in store for my family.  Lilly will start public kindergarten in the fall.  Lucy will start 2 days of preschool and I’m thinking of finishing my degree.  So there will be lots of schooling going on.  My hubby wants to try for another baby but I’m not to sure about that one.  I’m pretty sure one of my best friends will have a wedding this year and two other friends are going to try for their first “additions.”  And of course we won’t be able to get through the year without some kind of shock and awe event.  I can’t remember a year without one. I have a feeling it will be a very full year.

So here are the resolutions I have decided to commit to this year and so far, one week almost through, I haven’t broken them yet!

  1. Work Out!!!!  I really really need to get back into shape.  I’m tired of feeling tired all the time.  When we were in Cancun we did water aerobics with an instructor which was so fun but now that we’re back I have started using my mini-stair stepper that I got at Wal-Mart.  It was only 35 dollars and is a great work-out.  Plus I can carry it into any room or area I want.
  2. My second resolution is discipline myself to read the Bible on a more consistent basis.  I got a great little Beth Moore devotional from my mom for Christmas called Praying God’s Word Day by Day that I am really enjoying.
  3. Lastly, one way to try to better my mommy skills is that I have decided each day I am going to look both of my girls in the eye to get their full attention and tell them I love them and think they are great.  They just giggle when I do it now but I know they are getting the message.

They are all just small things but if I stick with them the whole year I know the results will be spectacular.  What are your resolutions for 2007?

To slow down and be more deliberate at what I choose to do with my time. Instead of running from thing to thing with no plan, am I focusing on work now, then exercise, or is it my day off? And to enjoy these last few months with Kate before she starts preschool. They’re growing up so fast!

To drink one beer a week. Seriously.
Oh there is some other stuff, but that’s one of them.
