This definitely was a Christmas to remember. You would have thought 6 kids lived here instead of just 2 with all the toys laying around my house Christmas evening! The kids (and us) were overwhelmed with all the new stuff.
We started the festivities Christmas Eve with a progressive dinner. My father-in-law’s place was the first stop for appetizers and drinks and the kids all got to open one gift. Then we went to my parents house for a huge Christmas feast. We finished off Advent which we had been celebrating all month. The final destination for the evening was to be at my house for desserts and games but we decided to finish early at my parent’s house. It still was a blast and I recommend doing a progressive dinner to anyone who might be looking for a new tradition to start.
I was awakened early Christmas morning by my 5 year old yelling up from downstairs, “Santa brought me underwear!!!” I realized that both my girls had gotten into their stockings while my husband and I were still snoozing away.
Christmas 2006 came and went and there were many great memories made. We started some new traditions this year with celebrating Advent, having the kids hand-make their presents to their cousins, and our progressive dinner. I’m excited that next year will be even better and more meaningful as I continue to learn and teach my kids what Christmas is all about. My family is even talking about pulling some of the money we normally spend on each-other to help support a needy family next year.
There are many new toys still lying around waiting to see what bin or corner they will take up residence but right now Lilly is singing away with her new portable cd player and Lucy is banging away on her drumset and it is music to my ears.

Drumset…Oh yes, that’s Lucy’s favorite toy (along with the piano) when she comes here. Have fun with that!
We have a new drumset in our house as well, not to mention a new keyboard and guitar. Its the Partridge family all over again!
