Not so Happy Feet

happy-feet.jpgI’m still here!  I’m still here!  I haven’t posted in awhile and I have missed it!  Things have gotten a little crazy here at home between the holiday parties (I would be happy if I didn’t have to play the White Elephant game again…EVER!), finishing up the Christmas details, and oh yeah, the ER visits.

The “non-compliant” patient (read previous blog) has been having some complications after his tonsillectomy and has spent some time in the hospital leaving me to be a single mom for a few days.  Thank the Lord for grandparents who live close by!

Anyways, my mom and I took the kids to go see Happy Feet yesterday.  I was pretty disappointed.  The animation was incredible but the story was totally lame.  It was just full of all these underlying messages from sexual and ethnic stereotyping to environmentalist plugs.  I really felt after watching it that my kids and I had been baited in to see a cute kid movie and then were fed a bunch of other stuff that I wished I hadn’t paid to be entertained by.  To be fair, the penguins were adorable, there were a few parts that had me laughing out loud and my kids both came home and gave tap dance performances so it wasn’t an overall complete waste of our afternoon.  I found a pretty good review if you would like a second opinion.

I watched a little bit of Elf tonight and now my world is ok again.  :)
